Best thing about the Social Club for us was the Sunday Bluegrass Brunch. I don't know where they found the quartet that played, but they could have played at any big faire or festival and fit right in. If we didn't have other plans that day we could have stayed the full 3 hours just to listen!
Visited in October, service was friendly and, while not super fast, nothing in Savannah really was, so it worked.
Oh yeah, and try the Bloody Mary, but let them know if you don't like cilantro. They are heavy with the garnish!
Had such a great experience here on a recent trip. Tacos were to die for and our server Ashley was competent, knowledgeable and attentive. I was with a group of five and after sampling everyone's order I can say that you can't go wrong here. Order anything and you'll be satisfied.
Avacado toast was excellent (try with the seared tuna), and big enough to almost make a meal for one. Had the Smoked Chicken and Fried Waffles, pretty solid. Onion rings were great, and I liked how the chicken was smoked instead of fried. Frying the waffles however made it a super heavy meal, so don't go in if you're not ready for a commitment.
Tybee Social Club ruined my wedding weekend. The catering coordinator lied, edited the contract after it was signed and was so unbelievably rude. Immediately upon arrival, she came to our party waving the contract around (that had been edited after agreement was signed) which should have been a red flag to begin with.... My wedding party and I waited for TWO HOURS after our dinner time that we had reserved.. we checked in SEVERAL times with the catering coordinator and the staff.. each time was brushed off with comments made like "The thing is, that our kitchen staff is trying to feed the rest of the restaurant, you and your party are not the only the only guests we have tonight". The sad thing is, before our wedding, my mother, soon to be husband and I took a trip from Nashville where we live to Tybee to visit our bookings and venue that we had booked online and over the phone and ate this place for breakfast and it was amazing. The owner came out and introduced herself once we advised the waiter that we would be back in a few months for our rehearsal dinner with them. She said that she was so excited we chose them and we were also very excited to return.... it ended up being the biggest mistake we made. We had screaming babies, elderly people that had not been fed at (9 O'CLOCK AT NIGHT) and staff that quite frankly did not care at all. After over two hours of waiting with still no entrees, we decided to go next door to Sting Rays after they confirmed that they could accommodate our large party which they did AMAZING especially with the time frame and notice that was given. Come to find out that Tybee Social had not only charged us for our deposit, but the rest of our entire original agreement amount (which we still never received) along with a bar tab that was claimed to be open after our party left and several other charges. Everyone with our party stayed to close their tabs and the tab that was charged had drinks that were supposed to be included in our catered meal (which no one in our party should have had charges on a tab for).. They were not able to provide any proof that the tab was from our party and proceeded to just charge my Mother In Laws card because they had it on file from our deposit we made before arriving. I could go on and on for hours about the disrespect and inappropriate behavior from the staff this night but after our family has reached out to them to provide the opportunity to make the situation right, with ignored mail and emails, we decided to just ensure everyone knows what kind of company you are giving your money to. Sting Rays next door is where to go! Stay away.
Food and atmosphere is good but service is HORRIBLE. It took an hour to get our drink order(the drinks weren't even right), waitress was annoyingly pushy with drinks and appetizers, I went to go look for our waitress and I found her laughing and gabbing with staff. We ate here on a Thursday night and it was NOT AT ALL BUSY (there was no excuse for the awfully long wait) If you want to wait a long time for your drinks and food and for your waitress be careless then this restaurant will be fine for you.
Unfortunately I cannot write a good review of this place. We traveled from Nashville for my cousins wedding and my aunt booked the social club months ahead of time for the rehearsal dinner. The dinner was suppose to begin at 7 pm. Nine o’clock came and we still had no meal. This is on top of having terrible service for drinks while we were patiently waiting for food to be set out. When the bride tried to check on the food she was told “the kitchen is trying to serve the others inside the restaurant” (our party was out on the porch, she was clearly not talking about us). They were extremely rude. My mother then took it upon herself to walk next door to the restaurant called sting rays and ask if they could accommodate our large party, which they did and did well. My mother, who is the grooms aunt, then returned to the social club to let everyone know that we could be accommodated elsewhere. We all closed our bar tabs and left, with no food still on the tables. The grooms father stayed behind to make sure that everyone knew where we had moved and that tabs had been settled, when the kitchen then came out with trays of food, which was a pitiful excuse of a dinner, and threw them onto tables and began taking pictures as if they had served us. It was an extremely bad experience and what is most disappointing is the fact that this was a wedding party that was from out of town. We had traveled to this wonderful island to enjoy a wonderful wedding and instead of having a beautiful rehearsal dinner ended up having to watch my aunt, the mother of the groom be upset the night before her sons wedding. Any of those who have hosted a wedding or had a son or daughter get married know how stressful weddings already are, let alone add the stress of an event such as the one they were forced to endure.
